- The team that NFL fans and sports writers alike unanimously chose to fall on Sunday didn't just win. They beat a very good New Orleans club. And they did it as a team.
- For an entire season no team has been so ragged as they endured criticism week to week, with parasitic writers leeching every weakness to pen out whatever story they can get.
- A top seeded Chicago team entering the divisonal game against the Seattle Seahawks was picked against and regarded heavily to falter, and did not.
- And still following the game, many pegged the team to perish in the wake of the Saints and the aura of their amazing season.
- And the Bears may have been some of the few who bought into themselves this game. A 39-14 conclusion echoes a sincere statement.
- That no matter how much you don't like them, no matter how much you will disrespect them (very classy, Reggie Bush), they came out against all odds on Sunday and crushed the Saints.
- Some will say the Saints were the best story
of the year. But how about the team that no one wanted? To endure as the Chicago Bears have, to go through week after week as the nation questions your judgement, and win, speaks volumes.
- The Bears may never get the respect they feel they deserve. But today, they wake up NFC Champions. They clearly dominated the Saints and earned their place in the Super Bowl. Jay Mariotti of the Sun Times, Gene Wojciechowski of ESPN.com and 8 ESPN analysts who made the Friday headline "Sorry, Bears" by all taking the Saints to win can only shake their heads.
- But this is where the Bears have been all season, and exactly where they want to be now. Underdogs by a mile. The nation is already buying into Peyton fever.
- In two weeks, an angry Bears team will come out fighting. And whether or not the sporting world will ever stand by them, they have stood by each other this season. And that makes for a great story.

Ken Hawk couldn't have summed Chicago Bears' fans feelings any better! We have been the underdogs the whole season. We've been the team that's not good-enough to beat good teams. We've been the worst 13-3 team in history. We've been labeled guaranteed losers against this year's feel-good team. How did we respond? By consistently proving the so-called experts wrong! Da Bears are already 7 point underdogs against the Colts and their Peyton-frenzy. The Bears WILL show the world how foolish it is to write off a team based solely on a shaky quarterback (who has actually been rather impressive) and depleted defense (tell the Saints this). THIS is the team of destiny. THIS is truly the underdog story of the year. Disrespect has fueled the Bears all year long, and the sports pundits have despicably, to Bear's fans joy, disrespected and underestimated this team once again. I don't guarantee victory for the Bears on February 4th, but I do guarantee that they will play their asses off! Nevertheless, I have a good feeling!
In 2005, the Chicago White Sox weren't respected as much as the St. Louis Cardinals or the New York Yankees. They were the underdogs for most of the playoffs. Yet they were able to bring a World Series Championship home to Chicago! I have the same feeling for the Bears in Superbowl LXI. Like the Sox, the Bears started off HOT, cooled down considerably, and then kicked ass in the playoffs. Sox swept the Astros in the World Series in impressive fashion. I honestly feel the Bears will impressive on Superbowl Sunday. These parallels may not have the most logic. But in the world of sports, logic doesn't always reign. Mr. Manning, meet Mr. Urlacher! Give 'em hell LOVIE...GO BEARS!

Don't you just love Chicago's skyline?
I just found that picture, but I swear it looks like my Uncle Mike. I fucking love Chicago man. No matter what happened this season, the city wanted the absolute best for this team. People can now look back and see what amazing adversity the Bears pushed through to get where we are. I'll be the first to tell you we're not the best team in history, but so fucking what, you don't have to have the stats to be a winner. The best stats on offense in the nation came in last week, and the Bears stopped them, and it wasn't even close.
And still, some are quick to go with the greater story and dismiss the Bears chances altogether. By Monday goofy Dr. Z of SI.com says the Colts are an "easy pick". Just like the Saints were an easy pick last week, right Chuckles?
This happened with the Chargers, it happened with the Saints.
Last year my Madden season ended with the Seahawks and Steelers in the Super Bowl. Even weirder? As the Bears I went to big one against the Colts in Madden 07. Guess who won?

Its seems as if the whole year has been spent reporting on the Bears quarterback controversy and how bad they are. Even in the playoffs, after beating the Seahawks and Saints, the doubts are still out there.
And yeah, I saw Urlacher racing after Bush, and that guy shouldn't have been able to keep up. What a fucking monster.
I'll be sporting my #55 jersey next weekend, my wife wearing the old #54. Looking forward to it.
I just got a Nathan Vasher jersey. He has been playing remarkably lately. What a defensive force! The Urlacher jersey is beginning to wear and tear. I'll likely order myself a real jersey, not a replica, in the near future.
I agree. Everyone is talking about how Rex is the worst QB to ever play in the Superbowl. Fuck, how many years did it take Peyton Manning to get to the big game? How about Rex? I'm not implying that Rex is as good as Manning because that isn't true. What I will say is that, unlike all the experts, I think Rex doesn't need to be brilliant for a Bear's victory. The defense, on the other hand, needs to play hard and keep the ball away from Manning. Jones and Benson must run the ball effectively. Hester should work his magic. Berrian and Muhammad should make great catches.
It feels great to be the underdogs. It will only feel sweeter once we crush the Colts!
I'm pretty sure my Briggs jersey is soaked in beer, but I don't care. I'm really hoping they sign this guy back. I can't see that line without Brian Lance or Hunter, they're all amazing players.
As a matter of fact, the whole Bears roster has a lot of amazing players on it. Jones is ubiquitously overlooked. Benson has been looking like the Bus this season. McKie and Clark are great for the short dump. Muhammad, Berrian and Davis, enough said. And I can't think of a single person on defense that I could call a weakness.
But too many times, people single out the quarterback. I can understand the role the man plays has a great responsibility, but I think analysts are dead wrong to say "this team cant win because of Rex Grossman, period".
But then the consensus is the pressure is on Manning. How will Rex Grossman buckle under pressure when clearly no one outside of IL expects anything from him.
The Media won't leave Peyton alone. Everyone is picking the Colts. It sounds like they are just expecting Indy to carve up the Bears to the tune of 67-0. Pride is deadly.
